The Modern Catechumenate
This project examines how interactive and visual design can facilitate a deeper understanding of the historical and spiritual foundations of the Christian worldview, without requiring prior academic knowledge or extensive reading.
I collaborated with a team to design a highly visual and guided digital experience that serves as a companion to the Catechumen book, rather than replacing it. The platform leads users through one main path with branching trails that encourage unlearning, reflection, and practice instead of passive content consumption.
The experience is designed to
• Translate complex theological ideas into user-friendly and sensory-based interactions
• Use art, sound imagery, and short text to show rather than tell
• Connect belief with daily life through tasks, journaling and reflection
• Support both individual growth and in-person community learning
The overall tone focuses on wonder, curiosity, playfulness, and exploration rather than feeling political or academic. Visual metaphors such as thresholds, bridges, and adding color to black and white imagery help users invitingly enter unfamiliar ideas.
This project was shaped by stakeholder interviews, work activity notes, and user stories from church leaders and participants who identified a gap between belief and lived practice. The final design responds to real needs, including ready-to-use teaching resources, long-term discipleship support, and learning that continues beyond a structured program.
